My partner makes out a step-by-step travel plan for me. This includes the time I will get to my destination, so I can check on my watch and not have to look out of the window all the time.

A badge may get you help

I keep a (home-made) badge in my bag which says “I have Alzheimer’s, please be patient”. If I need help, I look for a friendly person and pull it out. It gets a very good response.

I have an attachment with battery and wheel that fits onto my wheelchair.  Then I go about 15 mph! It will last several miles easily.

I keep a sunflower lanyard and an Alzheimer’s Society lanyard in my bag. If I have a bad moment I approach a staff member or choose someone who looks helpful, and show them.
