Life outside home – Planning a trip

My partner makes out a step-by-step travel plan for me. This includes the time I will get to my destination, so I can check on my watch and not have to look out of the window all the time.

I never book a train journey which has a change in it.

Don’t feel pressured by others to do things you don’t feel ready to do. We’re in no rush.

For my taxi fare, I try to remember to sort out the right money the night before, giving me time. They often don’t have change first thing in the morning.

A Disability Rail Card allows you, and 1 person accompanying you, 1/3 off rail travel throughout the UK. Sign up for their newsletter and receive offers and discounts to other places. This is a chargeable card, but you can use vouchers such as Tesco to pay https://www.disabledpersons-railcard.co.uk

The Orange Wallet scheme (Wales) is for anyone who may find it difficult to communicate their needs when travelling on public transport in Wales. It has plastic pockets to put in words and pictures to help you communicate. Order an orange wallet by phoning ✆ 03333 211 202, or Email: Community@tfwrail.wales.
