Life at home – Remembering what to do, when, and how

I have a one-page yearly diary, a weekly planner and an online calendar on my phone. My Google Home Mini puts the calendar information onto my phone. These all replace my memory.  If It’s not written down, it’s not happening!

I write a list in ‘Notes’ on my mobile phone, and keep it in a secure folder so I don’t delete it by mistake.

I have 7 folders in my house – one for each day of the week to sort out my diary.

I use the Calendar on the iPad, as it automatically puts in the meetings with links.

When my friend goes away for a couple of days… we make out a list, a pre-preparation list of tasks. Things like making sure that our dog is booked in the doggy care, making sure that there is enough food in the fridge for me, like ready meals, making sure these are nice, contingency plans, phone numbers, things like that. (Listen to Jacqui Bingham’s Dementia Diary here).

Get into the habit of stopping to think, to assemble the sequence of what you are about to do in your head.
